PDE are pleased to announce, on behalf of Breheny Civil Engineering Ltd, that a declaration has been submitted to CL:AIRE for a materials management plan (MMP) which allows the backfilling of a borrow pit on the northern side of Rougham Airfield.
The material to be used to backfill the borrow pit is from the excavation of the Bury St Edmunds Eastern Relief Road which is located on the southern part of the airfield. This will allow some 20,000m³ of excavated material to be re-used under the ‘Site of Origin’ scenario.
Use of the DoW CoP supports the sustainable and cost effective development of land and provides an alternative to the requirement to comply with waste regulation. Working under the code of practice, in the majority of circumstances, is considerably less expensive than applying for, working under and surrendering an environmental permit.
