On 11 February 2020 Essex County Council granted permission for an application prepared by PDE on behalf of SRC Aggregates. The application sought to allow for revisions to the approved details of mineral extraction, landfilling and restoration; the implementation of a Planting Establishment and Management Scheme; and retrospective permission for the installation of a water tank, at Martells Quarry, Ardleigh.
The grant of permission is fantastic news for SRC as it enables the implementation of some minor changes which will support existing operations and facilitate the completion of working and restoration of the Quarry. The grant of permission is also great news for the Site as the implementation of the Planting Establishment and Management Scheme will allow for the enhancement of land within the east of Martells Yard with associated improvements to biodiversity.
