PDE are pleased to announce on behalf of Breheny Civil Engineering Ltd, that a materials management plan (MMP) has been submitted, to allow the backfilling of a borrow pit on the northern side of Rougham Airfield, under the CL:AIRE Definition of Waste: Development Industry Code of Practice (DoW CoP).
The material to be used to backfill the borrow pit will be from the excavation of the Bury St Edmunds Eastern Relief Road which is located on the southern part of the airfield. This will allow some 20,000m³ of excavated material to be re-used under the ‘Site of Origin’ scenario.
Use of the DoW Cop supports the sustainable and cost effective development of land and provides an alternative to the requirement to comply with waste regulation (e.g environmental permit or exemption).
The MMP is under review by a Qualified Person and will then be lodged with the Environment Agency.
