PDE recently submitted an application to Suffolk County Council on behalf of Needham Chalks (HAM) Limited, for the installation and use of a washing plant for the recycling of inert waste together with associated access onto the highway at Barton Mills Chalk Quarry. The application was validated by Suffolk County Council on 01 August 2019.
Should the application receive planning permission it will complement existing activities at the Quarry enabling Needham Chalks to recycle a substantial proportion of the inert material imported for use in the restoration of the Quarry. The recycled material generated will provide a sustainable source of recycled aggregate products for use within the local construction market and reduce reliance on primary aggregate products.
