On behalf of Fortis IBA Limited, PDE have submitted an application to the Environment Agency (EA), to vary their permit which authorises an incinerator bottom ash (IBA) recycling facility located off the A303 in Barton Stacey, Hampshire.
The application is to add a western extension area to the permit to provide a larger area for the storage of IBA aggregate. The main reason why additional IBAA storage is required is related to the Covid 19 pandemic and the temporary downturn in demand for this product by the construction industry. The application, which is considered critical to national infrastructure, was submitted to the EA and duly made in January 2021.
Over the past 10 years, Fortis have recycled, processed and distributed over 1,000,000 tonnes of IBAA into the construction industry. In doing so, they have played an integral part in diverting over 4,000,000 tonnes of waste from landfill.
