Planning Permission Granted at Barton Mills

On the 06 October 2017 we at PDE submitted a planning application to Suffolk County Council on behalf of our client, Needham Chalks Limited, to allow the continuation of chalk extraction and the importation of 1,500,000m3 of inert waste to the Site, 1,050,000m3 of which will be used to restore the land to a more appropriate landform with a further 450,00m3 to be recycled and sold as aggregates.

This application was turned around in record time which is a testament to the proactive and pragmatic approach of Suffolk County Council. As such, we are pleased to announce that on 16 November 2017 Needham Chalks Limited were granted planning permission.

With the issuing of this planning permission, the long term future of the Site is secured. The development will also provide significant benefits to the area with the continued employment of around 7 employees, the supply of high quality chalk materials, recycled aggregates and the restoration of the Site to a more appropriate landform.
