In November 2020 the Environment Agency approved the transfer of an inert waste landfill permit from Tarmac Trading Limited to Sewells Reservoir Construction Limited (SRC).
The permit allows for up to 200,000 tonnes per annum of inert waste to be landfilled at Stanway Quarry, off Warren Lane, Colchester. The site requires a volume of 2.95 million m³ of waste, to complete the approved restoration and it is expected to be filled over a period of approximately 24 years.
SRC is an independent, family owned business providing top quality aggregate and waste management solutions. They plan and develop new quarries, waste recycling and disposal facilities and agricultural reservoirs across East Anglia, London & Hertfordshire. Based at Highwood Quarry near Stansted Airport, they supply a diverse range of materials and services for construction, building and large scale civil projects across the UK. Stanway Quarry Landfill is an exciting addition to the growing SRC portfolio.
