Waste Transfer Permit Successfully Transferred

In September 2020 the Environment Agency approved the transfer of a waste transfer station permit from Chaselet Limited to Sewells Reservoir Construction Limited (SRC).

The permit allows for up to 75,000 tonnes per annum of inert and non-hazardous waste to be accepted at Martells Quarry in Ardleigh, Essex, for transfer and treatment. Treatment consists of manual sorting, separation, screening, crushing and compaction of wastes for recovery or disposal.

SRC already operate several permitted waste activities at Martells Quarry, including an inert and non-hazardous waste landfill and a soils washing plant. The waste transfer station is a complementary addition to SRC’s existing operations on the wider site.
